One thing
we are good at in Britain is pussyfooting around the issues
and not dealing with the root causes. We are having to install
more complex security, more CCTV cameras, more police, stronger
security fences and so on.
But we
fail to increase deterrents, which would stop crimes at source.
Unless we have effective deterrents within in our society,
we are going to increase the suffering of crime, particularly
violent crime and never have complete control. Deterrents
do work, but in our society of political correctness and compensation,
we don't stand a chance.
When we
have prisons that are more like five star hotels with inspectors
spewing out nonsense about the terrible conditions within,
criminals are laughing all the way. They boast of having televisions,
play stations, video recorders in their en suite rooms, being
able to enjoy games rooms and a host of other sporting activities.
They can even learn a trade when 'inside', something we can't
do when we are honest and hard working on the outside without
paying through the nose! And in many cases prisoners are allowed
to 'see' their spouses and lady friend on weekends.
Judges
who give out derisory sentences should be sacked or at least,
made publicly accountable - yes, why not publicly elect them
to office? So what chance do we stand in combating crime?
Well, very little, unless we radically change our attitudes.
Prisons should be places to dread. They must act as both punishment
and deterrent. The death penalty should be returned for acts
of violent murder and put to public referendum but only used
in convictions that are 'beyond all doubt'. The problem we
have today lies at the feet of the do-gooders, that band of
pathetic individuals who think we all live in cloud cuckoo
land. Until we get to grips with reality and get rid of the
stupidity of our modern politically correct society, we are
going nowhere.
We have
let the do-gooders have their turn, now let the realists do
theirs. Let reality now take charge and put into place an
effective criminal system. We can deal with crime, it's not
difficult. It's just that the moronic do-gooders won't let
us. We must no longer keep pussyfooting around the symptoms
of crime, we must address the causes, and effectively. Unless
we do this, our future generations have nothing to look forward
to.
